Ciudades Fractales y Análisis Espacial

Resumen
La geometría fractal es una herramienta matemática que ofrece un marco flexible, visual para describir las superficies, patrones complejos e irregulares que caracterizan el crecimiento espacial de ciudades y fenómenos naturales como las nubes, las montañas, el sistema circulatorio, las líneas costeras o los copos de nieve, entre otros. A diferencia de la geometría euclidiana, que se basa en formas regulares y lineales, la geometría fractal permite modelar estructuras fragmentadas, heterogéneas, con propiedades de autoorganización, características de los entornos urbanos en constante evolución. La autosimilitud implica que las partes de un todo se parecen entre sí, independientemente de la escala en que se observe, lo que refleja la jerarquía y la repetición de patrones en las ciudades. En el análisis espacial urbano, la geometría fractal facilita la cuantificación de la complejidad y la irregularidad de las formas urbanas, ayudando a entender cómo se distribuyen, crecen, se organizan las áreas construidas, las fronteras y las redes de transporte.
